Letter from Talent Show Team
Big Kudos to all the kids (and parents) who took part in the auditions! It was a pleasure watching kids showcase their amazing talents and all the hard work that went into it. Special thanks to all the parents who volunteered and helped the auditions go smoothly. We couldn't have done it without them.
Due to the conflict with teacher's schedules for judging, we decided to invite external teachers to judge our student's talents and here are some details about them. The 3 judges are experts in their own areas (not revealing their names on purpose)
Judge 1 : Founder and Director of a well known dance school that teaches fusion and folk dances. She has had numerous performances in India, Europe and the USA. Her performances have won critical acclaim all over the world. The highlight of her dance career was when she was asked to perform in front of His Excellency Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.
Judge 2 : She gave her first vocal performance on the stage at the age of 7 without any initial training. She has won many music competitions in India. Being a versatile singer and a harmonium player, she has developed her expertise in Hindustani Classical, Semi-classical, Bhajans, Gazals, Film songs, Raas - Garba etc.She has performed all over the United States and India.
Judge 3: She is a bright young Vocal and Piano teacher who works closely with young kids to teach them music . She is an alumni of the evergreen elementary school and who is in college studying to become a teacher.
The kids were judged based on the below criteria
Stage Presence and Professionalism(Overall confidence , poise and ability to communicate with audience)
Technical Ability (pitch, choreography, props used, coordination, rhythm, technique )
Difficulty of Selection or Act
Appearance/costume(Appropriate for the act,gracefulness ,posture)
Creativity (Producesomething new, unique, original and creativity included)
We had a tough time finalizing the acts for the final performance. The final decisions were based on the top scores and we picked the top performers from each category: singing, dancing, comedy, poetry, martial arts, musical instruments. 30 acts were picked from 74 acts. For those that did not make it to the final performance please do not be disheartened as there is an upcoming cultural event which is open to everyone and would be a great platform to perform.
